Events New South Wales (NSW) is building a world-class events program for Sydney and NSW.
We use a fresh approach to partner with all levels of government as well as business, the community and the events industry to develop and bring the right kind of events to our city and our State. Our objective is to maximise the economic, strategic and community benefits of events.
Our commercial outlook provides real return for government and private sector event investment and support. We build on the momentum and reputation of Sydney’s internationally-recognised events to unlock the economic and city branding potential that outstanding events can offer.
To achieve this, we:
- identify, attract and nurture events which will provide significant economic and/or community benefits to Sydney and NSW - now and in the long term;
- promote a NSW Master Events Calendar of cultural, sporting, lifestyle, entertainment, regional and business events which bring year-round benefits;
- leverage off these events to maximise the overall economic and community benefits for NSW;
- endorse a strong regional focus to ensure economic and community benefits are shared throughout the State;
- encourage investment, infrastructure development and other activities so Sydney and NSW can continue to be a leading host of major global events.
We do not seek new events simply for the sake of having more events - we focus on the right mix of events to showcase our locations, thrill all participants, and above all maximise the return to the people of NSW on every dollar invested.
We provide access to financial investment, management advice, marketing support and the best minds in the event business. We can either help directly, or may help by connecting event proponents to key contacts.
Events NSW works closely with Business Events Sydney to attract business events, including conferences, incentives and meetings to Sydney and regional NSW. By partnering with Business Events Sydney and regional organisations we can create entire destination experiences for conference and meeting delegates.
NSW Master Events Calendar
Each year, hundreds of events are held throughout NSW that showcase the expertise, facilities, creativity, energy and professional excellence which make us a world class location for events.
The NSW Master Events Calendar is built around five annual “anchor events” :
- Vivacity: New Year in Sydney
- Sydney Autumn Racing Carnival
- Vivid Sydney: A Festival of light, music and ideas
- Crave Sydney: A Festival of food, outdoor art and fun
- Australian Open Golf Championship
These five anchor events and other drawcard events generate more than $500 million every year for NSW. Through the NSW Master Events Calendar we use creative, innovative and commercial strategies to help boost the State’s economy and reputation - helping to attract further investment, create jobs, engender community pride and drive tourism.
The NSW Master Events Calendar has a strong regional focus. It forms the backbone of an integrated government and industry-wide approach to events and guides private and public sector event partners into a successful collaboration - with huge benefits to the State’s prosperity and to Sydney’s standing as a ‘Global City’.
