Community Tracker
The Events NSW Community Tracker is a monthly online survey of NSW residents.
A representative sample of approximately 500 respondents across NSW have been surveyed every month since October 2008. To date over 8,000 surveys have been completed. Cumulative results from all surveys (up until March 2010) are detailed below.
Importance of events to NSW residents
“To what extent do you believe it is important for Sydney/NSW to have significant sporting, arts, cultural and/or community events in any given year?”
Over 9 in 10 NSW residents believe it’s ‘important’ or ‘very important’ for Sydney/NSW to hold significant sporting, arts, cultural and/or community events. These results have remained stable since Events NSW started the survey in October 2008.

The most important benefit driven by staging events in NSW
“Below are three major benefits derived from staging events. Please rank the benefits in order of importance based on your personal opinion”
The economic impact is clearly the key benefit that NSW residents want events to drive. This is most clearly evident in Regional NSW. Since commencing the Community Tracker in 2008 the economic impact has consistently been seen as the most important benefit of staging events in NSW.

NSW Government should attract / secure events for the state
“Do you think it is important for the NSW Government to be involved in the attracting and securing of events for the state of NSW?”
88 in 100 NSW residents believe it is important for the NSW Government to be involved in attracting and securing events for the state of NSW, whilst only 5 in 100 think it’s not important. The opinion of NSW residents has remained stable on this topic.
